Group Services
Our classes teach a variety of skills while proving opportunities for creativity, growth and independence. Our staff is high trained and qualified to work with the general public as well as the special needs population.
Art Group
A New Jersey Certified Teacher and/or Certified Teacher of the Handicapped who has a background in teaching art will provide opportunities to address cognitive, social, and tactile exploration through art using various mediums, including drawing, acrylics, watercolor, clay, canvas, wood, etc. Instruction is tailored to each individual’s needs within a small group setting.
Brain Games
This service is provided by an Educational Specialist or a Certified Brain Injury Specialist. Group sessions with address cognitive deficits and work on the development of skill sets. Group sessions will focus on structured tasks that will be completed as a team and will involve thinking skills and interactive problem-solving skills. Instruction regarding the acquisition and application of compensatory memory, time management, and organization strategies to daily living is continually provided.
Dance
Group dance and choreography classes taught by a professional certified dance instructor. Classes aim to enhance creativity, and self-expression while improving flexibility, mobility, strength, balance, coordination, motor skills, memory, and self confidence.
Music
We offer introductory music classes in which clients will engage in multi-sensory exercises aimed at exploring various aspects of music including tempo, dynamics, rhythmic beats, and dictation. Clients who pursue their passion for music will engage in classes using voice, percussion, and keyboards. The various facets of music are used to address creativity, self-expression, relaxation, and stress management, as well as, cognitive skill sets including attention, encoding, decoding, and memory.
Socialization &
Effective Communication
This service is provided by an Educational Specialist or an individual with a background in background in psychology and/or social work. Group work will provide opportunities to acquire and enhance social skill development in small class settings. Socialization classes will focus largely on effective communication skills (listening and expressing oneself), displaying appropriate behaviors in public settings and effective interpersonal relationships.
Yoga
These classes will be taught by instructors who are certified in yoga and have gone on to earn certification in the therapeutic discipline. Our instructors may also possess licenses in Occupational Therapy and/or Teacher of the Handicapped. Demonstrations will be given to the class and assistance will be provided to each student individually as yoga is unique to each individual.
