Group sessions will focus on structured tasks that will be completed as a team and will involve thinking skills and interactive problem solving skills. Instruction regarding the acquisition and application of compensatory memory, time management and organization strategies to daily living is continually provided.
Group settings also offer the clients the ability to identify and/or socialize with others who have experienced similar challenges. In addition to the cognitive skills addressed, these sessions focus on effective communication skills (listening and expressing oneself), displaying appropriate behaviors in group as well as in public settings and effective interpersonal relationships.
Clients will be placed in groups which are appropriate for them in terms of level of functioning, age, experience and/or behavior. Groups will include a minimum of three individuals and a maximum of eight depending on the dynamics of that particular group.
