Advance Life Skills Training

This service is provided by a professional such as those in the following areas: New Jersey Certified Teacher, New Jersey Teacher of the Handicapped, Certified Bran Injury Specialist or Social Worker.

This service takes place in the office, home, school, and /or workplace as needed. Life skills training is intertwined with cognitive skills development and compensatory strategy development and implementation of these as cognitive deficits greatly impact ADLs and higher levels of independence.

 

The focus of treatment goes beyond ADLs and includes: executive functions, advanced problem solving, activities of daily living/functional skills, household management, organization, bill writing, budgeting systems, grocery shopping and meal preparation, assistance with managing mail, job searches, time management skills, initiation and follow through of responsibilities and tasks that work towards goals of increasing independence.
